Trusted 5 Star Rated PDI Services

Trusted by Customers

A Honda PDI is an independent, third-party inspection of a brand-new Honda car conducted in the hours before you sign the delivery paperwork. PDI Plus offers Honda PDI service across North India for the current Honda India range including Amaze, City, City e:HEV, and Elevate. Every inspection covers paint depth readings, OBD scans, Tapukara transit verification, Honda Connect activation, Honda Sensing ADAS calibration on Elevate and City top variants, e:HEV strong hybrid system diagnostics on City Hybrid, and a same-day written report.

Honda has an unusual profile in the current Indian market. A narrower lineup than most competitors, no diesel, no mass-market EV, and a product philosophy still built around naturally aspirated i-VTEC engines paired with CVT gearboxes. In a market moving aggressively toward turbo-petrol, diesel, EV, and SUV-only lineups, Honda has held to sedan heritage, refinement focus, and one exceptional strong hybrid in the City e:HEV.

That focus changes what a proper Honda PDI looks like. There is no diesel DPF to check, no AdBlue system to verify, no 4WD transfer case to engage. But there is a two-motor strong hybrid system on the City e:HEV that operates unlike any other hybrid on the Indian market. There is a naturally aspirated i-VTEC engine on Amaze, City, and Elevate that shows cold-start and idle behaviour differently from turbo engines. There is a CVT gearbox on most variants with its own delivery-day quirks. And Honda’s ADAS suite, called Honda Sensing, uses a camera-based approach distinct from the radar-and-camera combinations used by Hyundai, Kia, and Mahindra.

Honda cars for North India come from a single plant at Tapukara in Rajasthan, roughly 150 to 200 kilometres from Delhi. Short transit means less yard exposure than long-transit brands, but yard turnover at Delhi NCR dealers is faster, which brings its own defect patterns. Our Honda PDI service is built around all of this.

Honda Deliveries in North India: What Shapes the Handover

Honda India’s plant footprint, product philosophy, and buyer profile each create specific handover conditions.

Tapukara is the sole plant: After Honda closed its Greater Noida facility in 2020, Tapukara in Rajasthan became the single Indian plant for all current models. Tapukara-to-Delhi transit is roughly 150 to 200 kilometres, one of the shortest in the mass market. This means less paint and panel exposure during transit than for southern-plant brands, but faster yard turnover in Delhi NCR dealerships. Both patterns have PDI implications.

Naturally aspirated i-VTEC engines throughout the range: Honda has not moved to turbo petrol on Amaze, City, or Elevate. The 1.2-litre i-VTEC on Amaze and Elevate and the 1.5-litre i-VTEC on City are traditional naturally aspirated units. Cold start behaviour, idle stability, and throttle response follow patterns that differ from turbo petrol engines. PDI needs to observe these patterns knowing what to expect.

CVT gearbox on most automatics: Amaze and City automatic variants use Honda’s CVT with paddle shifters on top variants. CVT behaviour at delivery, including cold-start creep, ratio hold behaviour, and paddle response, has its own inspection checklist.

City e:HEV as the strong hybrid: Honda’s two-motor series-parallel hybrid system on the City e:HEV operates in three modes: EV mode at low speeds, hybrid mode at cruise, and engine-drive mode at highway speeds. This is genuinely different from any other hybrid on the Indian market. e:HEV PDI requires system diagnostic scan, battery SOC verification, EV mode functionality check, and hybrid transition behaviour observation on a short drive.

Honda Sensing on top variants: Elevate top variants and City top variants ship with Honda Sensing, a camera-based ADAS suite. Includes adaptive cruise, lane keep, forward collision warning, and lane departure warning. Calibration and software version verification are priority PDI steps, and the camera-based approach requires different verification steps than radar-plus-camera systems.

Honda Connect telematics: Honda’s connected car system runs on Honda Connect. Different from Blue Link, iRA, UVO Connect, and AdrenoX in feature set, subscription model, and activation flow. Verify pairing, tier, and telemetry visibility at delivery.

Corporate and mature-buyer skew: Honda’s buyer base skews toward repeat buyers, corporate buyers, and mature families. Delivery expectations tend to prioritise paperwork accuracy and warranty terms clarity over feature demonstration. PDI reporting should reflect this priority.

Shorter standard warranty than peers: Honda offers 2 years or 40,000 km standard warranty on most models, extendable up to 5 years or 1 lakh km. This is genuinely shorter than most competitors. Extended warranty activation at delivery is therefore particularly important, since more buyers opt for it.

What Are the Most Common Issues Found on New Honda Cars at Delivery?

Our inspection records across Honda deliveries in North India show a defect pattern shaped by Honda’s engineering choices, single-plant supply, and yard turnover dynamics. The following recur often enough to warrant priority attention on every Honda PDI.

  • Paint depth variance on rear quarters and boot lid on City sedan.
  • Elevate rear wheel arch paint depth from fast yard turnover and handling.
  • Cabin plastic rattles on Elevate A-pillar and dashboard trim.
  • CVT cold-start creep and slight shudder on first engagement on Amaze and City automatic variants.
  • i-VTEC idle instability on cold start, resolving after 30 to 60 seconds (needs verification vs actual fault).
  • Honda Connect pairing failures on first attempt.
  • Honda Sensing calibration warnings on Elevate and City top variants (needs OBD confirmation vs windshield sensor adjustment).
  • City e:HEV EV mode not engaging at low speeds on delivery drive.
  • e:HEV battery SOC below expected 40 to 60 percent delivery range.
  • Boot alignment variance on Amaze sedan.
  • Elevate tailgate alignment and rear parking sensor calibration.
  • Sunroof calibration on Elevate and City top variants.
  • Infotainment version mismatch between variants (older software on some units).
  • AC vent airflow inconsistency between left and right cabin zones.
  • Wireless charging pad function on top variants.
  • Corporate invoice, GSTIN, or company address errors on corporate-registered vehicles (a Honda-specific issue given the corporate buyer skew).

Honda Model Coverage

Our PDI covers the full current Honda India range. Given Honda’s narrower lineup than most peers, each model gets deeper attention on the inspection.

Honda Amaze

Compact sedan with i-VTEC petrol engine and CVT or manual gearbox options. One of Honda’s oldest India nameplates, refreshed periodically. Priority checks: boot alignment (a recurring finding on Amaze), rear seat mounting and fold mechanism, CVT cold-start behaviour on automatic variants, i-VTEC idle stability, paint depth on rear quarters, cabin trim rattles, infotainment version verification.

Amaze is a common corporate and fleet purchase. Fleet inspections add commercial paperwork verification, GSTIN and PAN cross-checks, and standardised reporting for multi-unit orders.

Honda City

Mid-size sedan with 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine, CVT automatic on ZX variants, and manual on lower variants. Long-running Honda flagship, refreshed with sharper styling and Honda Sensing on top variants. Priority checks: paint depth on rear quarters and boot lid (a recurring City finding), boot alignment, sunroof calibration on ZX variants, ambient lighting function, Honda Sensing calibration on top variants, CVT paddle shift response, wireless charging pad on top variants, Honda Connect pairing and tier verification.

City buyers frequently include long-term corporate customers. Extended warranty activation and Honda’s ExtraCare program paperwork should be verified at delivery.

Honda City e:HEV (Strong Hybrid)

The most technically distinct car in the Honda India range. Two-motor series-parallel strong hybrid, not a mild hybrid or plug-in hybrid. Operates in EV mode at low speeds, hybrid mode at cruise, and engine-drive mode at highway speeds.

Priority checks:

  • e:HEV system diagnostic scan via OBD, covering battery, motor, inverter, and control unit status
  • Battery state of charge verification against expected 40 to 60 percent delivery range
  • EV mode engagement at low speeds on delivery drive
  • Hybrid mode transition observation (should be seamless without jerk)
  • Regen mode selection and paddle-based regen behaviour
  • e:HEV-specific warning lamp status
  • Warranty terms for the hybrid battery and system, distinct from standard ICE warranty
  • Documentation of hybrid-specific service network access (fewer service centres are e:HEV certified than standard Honda centres)

City e:HEV PDI runs longer than standard City PDI given the additional hybrid system checks. Allow 2 to 2.5 hours.

Honda Elevate

Mid-size SUV, Honda’s entry into the segment dominated by Creta, Seltos, and Grand Vitara. i-VTEC petrol engine with CVT or manual. Honda Sensing on top ZX variant.

Priority checks: paint depth on rear wheel arches (a recurring Elevate finding), tailgate alignment, rear parking sensor calibration, cabin plastic trim on A-pillar and dashboard (a recurring rattle point), sunroof calibration, Honda Sensing calibration and software version, wireless charging pad function, Honda Connect pairing, LED headlamp alignment.

Elevate is Honda’s newest India model and mid-cycle updates are more likely. Variant equipment match against invoice is worth extra attention.

What Our Honda PDI Inspection Covers

Our Honda inspection follows the seven-category framework used across our brand pages, with Honda-specific line items called out.

Paintwork, Panels, and Short-Transit Yard Check

Digital paint depth gauge readings across every panel. Priority attention to yard-handling exposure given Tapukara’s short transit distance (paint issues are more likely from yard turnover than from transit). Panel gap consistency with priority attention to City rear quarters and boot lid, Elevate tailgate and rear wheel arches, and Amaze boot alignment. Detection of touch-up or repaint work. Headlamp, DRL, and fog lamp condition. Chrome and body-coloured moulding attachment.

i-VTEC Engine, CVT, and Manual Gearbox Verification

For naturally aspirated i-VTEC engines: engine oil, coolant, brake fluid, cold-start behaviour observation (with knowledge of expected i-VTEC characteristics), idle stability documentation from cold to operating temperature, throttle response, VTEC transition on a short controlled drive.

For CVT variants: cold-start creep behaviour, initial engagement smoothness, ratio hold under load, paddle shifter response on top variants, CVT-specific warning lamp status. Manual variants: clutch engagement point, gearshift feel, reverse engagement.

e:HEV Strong Hybrid System (City Hybrid Only)

A dedicated PDI section for the City e:HEV. Two-motor series-parallel hybrid system diagnostic scan via OBD covering battery, motor, inverter, and control unit. Battery state of charge verified against expected delivery range. EV mode engagement at low speeds tested on the drive. Hybrid mode transition observed for smoothness. Regen behaviour and paddle-based regen calibration confirmed. e:HEV warning lamp status. Hybrid-specific warranty documentation cross-checked against booking. Verified against the applicable Honda India warranty policy.

Cabin, Comfort, and Feature Verification

Seat upholstery and adjustment. Dashboard and A-pillar trim rattle checks (an Elevate priority). Sunroof calibration on Elevate ZX and City ZX. Ambient lighting function. Wireless charging pad function and heat behaviour. AC vent airflow across zones. Infotainment version verification (Honda variants can carry different infotainment software builds).

Honda Sensing ADAS Calibration and Software Version

Applies to Elevate ZX and City ZX top variants. Camera-based ADAS module firmware version read via OBD and cross-referenced with the current release. Windshield-mounted camera visual inspection for correct positioning and clean field of view. Adaptive cruise, lane keep assist, forward collision warning, and lane departure warning functionally tested on a short controlled drive. Camera calibration status confirmed.

Electricals, Infotainment, and Honda Connect

Infotainment touchscreen calibration and responsiveness. Honda Connect pairing verified with subscription tier match against booking. Voice assistance function. Headlamp alignment, wipers, horn, indicators. Reverse parking sensors and camera on applicable variants. USB, wireless charging, and 12V outputs. OBD-II diagnostic scan across all modules.

Wheels, Tyres, and Underbody

Tyre brand, size, tread, DOT week. Variant-correct wheel size verification against invoice. Alloy wheel condition on top variants. Steel wheel condition and wheel cover fitment on entry variants. Spare wheel, tool kit, and jack. Underbody visual for leaks and damage. Suspension and exhaust condition.

Documentation and RTO Paperwork

VIN, engine, and chassis verification. Manufacturing month and year decoded from VIN and B-pillar sticker. Owner’s manual, warranty booklet, service book, duplicate keys. Form 22, PUC, insurance policy. Temporary registration matched to the correct RTO series. Fastag activation and verification on the Parivahan Sewa portal. Honda Connect registration and tier confirmation. Extended warranty activation (particularly important given Honda’s shorter standard warranty). Corporate invoice, GSTIN, PAN, and business address verification for corporate deliveries.

Honda Paperwork, Warranty, and e:HEV-Specific Requirements

Honda’s shorter standard warranty, its corporate buyer profile, and its e:HEV strong hybrid system create paperwork specifics that a generic PDI checklist misses.

Standard warranty is shorter than peers. Honda offers 2 years or 40,000 km standard warranty. This is meaningfully shorter than Hyundai’s 3 years unlimited, Kia’s 3 years or 1 lakh km, and Mahindra’s 3 years or 1 lakh km. Because more Honda buyers therefore opt for extended warranty, delivery-day activation confirmation of extended terms is a priority PDI step.

e:HEV hybrid warranty is separate. For City e:HEV, the hybrid battery and system carry warranty terms distinct from the standard vehicle warranty. Verify hybrid-specific coverage duration, coverage terms, and that activation is reflected in the system on delivery.

Corporate registration paperwork. Given Honda’s corporate buyer skew, corporate registration paperwork errors surface more frequently on Honda deliveries than on some other brands. Verify GSTIN, PAN, company address, and that the invoice format supports input tax credit correctly.

Honda Connect subscription tier. Honda Connect activates at delivery on a subscription tier tied to your booking. Verify pairing, owner mobile registration, telemetry appearance in the app, and tier match.

e:HEV service network limitation. Not all Honda service centres are certified for e:HEV work. Buyers of City Hybrid should confirm at delivery which service centres in their region carry e:HEV certification, so they know where to take the car for hybrid-specific service.

Honda ExtraCare and roadside assistance. Honda’s value-added program covering extended benefits requires separate confirmation. Roadside assistance activation should be verified via customer care rather than assumed from the booklet.

Variant equipment verification. While Honda’s variant ladder is simpler than Kia’s or Hyundai’s, mid-cycle refreshes have created variant-to-variant equipment differences worth cross-checking against invoice.

Honda VIN Decoding and Manufacturing Origin

How do I confirm my Honda was built at Tapukara?

Honda India VINs are 17 characters. The plant code sits at the 11th character. The model year sits at the 10th. Our inspectors decode both at every PDI. Three things get confirmed:

  • Plant of manufacture. Tapukara (Rajasthan) is the sole Indian plant for the current Honda range. Older stock from Greater Noida (pre-2020) does not apply to current deliveries.
  • Model year. Verifying that a car sold as a current-year unit was actually built in that year, particularly relevant given Honda’s mid-cycle refreshes on Amaze, City, and Elevate.
  • Month of manufacture. Read from the VIN and B-pillar sticker. Short Tapukara transit means fresh stock is common, but yard storage duration at Delhi NCR dealers can still push some units to older manufacturing dates. Stock older than 3 months from delivery date warrants a conversation.

When to Book Your Honda PDI

Book as soon as your VIN and delivery date are confirmed. Two to three days of lead time helps us align with the dealer.

For festive periods, allow three to four days of lead time. Honda dealerships in Delhi NCR handle volume during Navratri and Diwali, though generally at lower peak intensity than Hyundai, Kia, or Maruti.

Add extra lead time in these cases:

  • City e:HEV: allow an extra day for strong hybrid system diagnostics, EV mode drive verification, and hybrid-specific paperwork audit. e:HEV PDI runs 2 to 2.5 hours vs 90 to 120 for standard City.
  • Honda Sensing top variants (Elevate ZX, City ZX): allow half a day extra for full ADAS calibration and camera positioning verification.
  • Corporate fleet deliveries: book 4 to 5 days ahead for multi-unit inspection with commercial paperwork audit.

Book Your Honda PDI Service

A Pre-Delivery Inspection is a small, one-time step that protects a large, multi-year purchase. Whether you are buying an Amaze as a first sedan or fleet choice, a City as a refined mid-size sedan, a City e:HEV as your entry into strong hybrid driving, or an Elevate as your family SUV, an independent PDI Plus inspection helps ensure you take home the exact car you paid for.

Two ways to move forward:

  • If your delivery is confirmed, share the VIN, dealership name, delivery date, booked variant code, and registration type (personal or corporate). We will lock a slot.
  • If you are still evaluating options or comparing City e:HEV against turbo petrol competitors, tell us the model, variant, and expected timeline. We will guide you on when the inspection should be booked.

Fill in the enquiry form on this page or call our team. We respond within a few working hours and can accommodate same-week Honda inspections across Delhi NCR and adjoining zones, with corporate fleet delivery support available.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you inspect the City e:HEV strong hybrid system?

Yes. e:HEV is a dedicated PDI focus. We run system diagnostic scans via OBD covering battery, motor, inverter, and control unit, verify battery state of charge, test EV mode engagement at low speeds on the drive, observe hybrid mode transition for smoothness, check regen behaviour, and audit hybrid-specific warranty paperwork. e:HEV PDI runs longer than standard City PDI at 2 to 2.5 hours.

Yes. Honda Sensing is camera-based rather than the radar-plus-camera combinations used by Hyundai, Kia, and Mahindra. We verify windshield-mounted camera positioning, check for clean field of view, read module firmware via OBD, cross-reference against the current release, and functionally test adaptive cruise, lane keep, forward collision warning, and lane departure warning on a short controlled drive.

Yes. CVT cold-start creep, initial engagement smoothness, ratio hold under load, and paddle shifter response on top variants are all standard CVT PDI checks. First-engagement shudder in CVT variants at cold start can be normal characteristic or indicate a fault, and knowing the difference is what makes an expert Honda PDI valuable.

Yes. i-VTEC cold-start behaviour, idle stability from cold to operating temperature, and throttle response follow patterns that differ from turbo petrol engines. Idle instability on cold start that resolves within 30 to 60 seconds is typically normal i-VTEC characteristic. Instability that persists beyond that window is a finding. Recognising the difference matters.

Yes, but for different reasons than long-transit stock. Tapukara-to-Delhi is short (150 to 200 km) so transit-related paint and panel exposure is less. But yard turnover at Delhi NCR dealers is faster, which means fresh yard-handling defects show up more often. Our Honda PDI weighs both patterns.

Yes. Honda Connect pairing, owner mobile registration, telemetry appearance in the app, and subscription tier match against booking are all verified before you leave the yard.

The warranty duration itself is what it is, but delivery-day PDI focus around it is important. Honda’s 2-year or 40,000 km standard is shorter than most competitors, so more Honda buyers opt for extended warranty. Confirming that extended warranty is activated in the system on delivery, not just written in the booklet, is a priority PDI step.

No. Booked with adequate lead time, the inspection happens in the two to three hour window before your scheduled handover. Delivery proceeds as planned unless you decide to defer based on findings. City e:HEV inspection runs longer at 2 to 2.5 hours, which we factor in at booking.

Pricing depends on the model type (Amaze, City, City e:HEV, Elevate), whether Honda Sensing or e:HEV checks are needed, and whether the delivery is personal or corporate. We share the exact fee upfront before you confirm.
